The ICP Disc runs locally in a computer’s Internet browser. What browsers is your disc compatible with?
At this time, we have tested the ICP disc with Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x and higher, Firefox 1.x and higher, IE for Mac, and Opera. The ICP disc has some Javascripts and Pop-up dialogue boxes, but beyond that it should work in all current WC3 compatible browsers. We will continue to test as new versions are released and we will update this response as required. Back to the Questions.
You offer the ability to copy protect the disc for an additional fee. Please explain what this protects against?
ConventionDisc has its own replication equipment that incorporates a copy protection program. The discs are pre mastered with an encryption tool that actually installs on the computer when the content is launched. Each time the disc is used, it looks for the components that reside on the original disc. If these element are missing, the disc will not play. Discs cannot be replicated. This protection can protect content files but for the most part, you can copy the documents individually as they were intended. Back to the Questions.
Can the search engine on your disc find information in all documents on the disc?
The ICP Search engine creates an index of all readable text used within MS Word Documents, MS Excel Spread Sheets, MS PowerPoint presentations, Macromedia Flash animations, HTML documents, Adobe Acrobat files and generic text documents. The search engine cannot index text which has been included within an image or has been converted to lines. Back to the Questions.
How long does the web portal remain active?
The Web Link on the Proceedings disc links to a secure web portal that resides on one of our 6 colocation servers. Our normal program is to maintain your portal for up to 6 months after the close of your event. For some clients we have made exceptions and the site remains active for 11 months. We typically start fresh with the next event. Updating the portal only requires communication with our production department. Back to the Questions.
How do we get the information to you to be included on the disc?
ConventionDisc provides each ICP and XtndEvent customer with secured access to our Production Portal. This web-enabled work site is accessible 24/7 from any Internet port in the world. Once inside, customers can complete the data entries for each session, upload presentations, biographies and documents, as well as follow along with the design process of the covers and screens. A complete set of easy-to-follow instructions are included with the customer packet. Back to the Questions.
Your shipping charges are FOB Las Vegas. What is the typical cost to ship discs?
The typical case of CDs holds 100 finished units. Each box weighs approximately 22 lbs. and the size is 12 x 15 x 15. As for actual shipping costs, ConventionDisc will use your preferred shipping method and account number when provided. Otherwise, we will ship the best way possible to meet the delivery deadline.
Can we add additional security to specific documents on the disc?
For a number of customers, we have used the internal security features of Adobe Acrobat. We can assign specific passwords that must be entered in order to view the document. Organizers have used this to secure content from pre-conference workshops where only those who paid to attend would be given the username and password. We can also post documents to the web portal and place them behind a password protected directory. Back to the Questions.
Can we add multimedia files such as audio or video to the disc?
Each ICP Disc has the capacity to hold up to 700 mb of data. We can store any type of file on the disc and provide links to it from within the screens and menus. Back to the Questions.
